Zoe's Story

Zoe asked me to type this story as she told it. It's called "The Doodle Bug Cage Game"

zoe went home one day. and she came across a hat shop and her went inside it. and what did she see in there? a bee! and what did she see under the bee? a fly! and under the fly was a mosquito! and there was a tiger and a rabbit and a bug trainer. and the bug trainer is when they get bugs and put them on the train and takes the bugs for a ride. they went for a hide on a boat. and there's a little tiny doodle bug and it crawled into the ocean and the got it and put in a cage and they bring it home and decided to keep him as a pet. then he decided to eat some leaves. so zoe went out to get some leaves. then zoe put them in a cage and take a nap. but when zoe was about to get into bed she heard the doodle bug said "help, help!" and she looked in the cage and the doodle bug was sick. then she had a glass of water. the end.

Zoe's Story

I'm magic.
You can't see me.
I disappeared.
I went into a flower and turned into a bee.
I went far, far away to New York City and there are lots of flowers there.
...pause...
I sipped nectar from an orange flower.
I'm back.

Zoe chooses 'none of the above'

I'm so proud of my Zoe. We have been giving her Hobson's Choice to get her to do things and about a week ago she said she didn't want to do either of the choices. Our smart girl is able to see past the framed choices and see she has other options. There are many adults who fall for Hobson's Choice, albeit more complicated ones, but still..very proud she can see past it. It makes things a bit harder for us, but its a good thing!

Zoe the flower

Zoe is a daisy in the photo. I picked her and brought her home and put her in a vase with some water (aka a bathtub).

Zoe

Zoe has been expanding her vocabulary. Here are a few quotes from today:

Paige puts USB cable in her mouth.
Me: Not for your mouth, Paige.
Zoe to me: Paige put that in her mouth intentionally.

While we were all pretending to be other things...
Zoe: Daddy is a concept.
Now she couldn't expand on what she meant by that, but it was the first time she's experimented with that word.

I told Zoe that I saw a tree out of the corner of my eye and at first I thought it was a person. She replied: You just realized that it was a tree?

Zoe also invented a friend named Gwendoline who has brown hair, pink eyes and likes to "knock things over."

Cold weather and walking trees

It was a chilly weekend, in the low 50s upper 40s. We went to the park for a bit. The last photo is of a guy dressed up in a realistic tree costume on the corner, he would hold still then say something in a deep voice when you walked by. He would walk around a bit too. It was really cool, even though it was scaring kids a little. I think he said to Zoe, "You remind me of a sprouting elm tree I once knew." Zoe whispered to me, "Ive never seen a talking tree before". I explained it to her it was a guy in a costume, then she thought it was pretty funny.

Funny things Zoe has said recently

I (Skip) was in the living room with Zoe and Paige. Paige was making a lot of noise while Zoe was trying to watch one of her videos. Zoe asked if I could put Paige in the other room and then come back and sit with her. I told I need to be in the same room with Paige. The she asked if I could put Paige in the exersaucer (a big toy Paige sits in a plays by herself, only last for about 10 minutes or so). I told Zoe Paige had already been in the exersaucer and probably wouldn't want to go back in. Then she asked, "Can you put her back inside Mommy?"

Recently Paige has started crawling, and almost every time she crawls straight for Zoe. The other day Zoe was drawing and Paige started crawling towards her with a big smile on her face.
Zoe-"Paige is scary".
Mommy "Why is Paige scary?"
Zoe-"Because she is moving around"

Zoe doesn't like to talk on the phone. Recently Nikki's mom asked to talked to Zoe, Zoe got on the phone and said rather quickly, "Hello, Mommy has a cold sore..goodbye" and handed the phone back to Nikki.

Me: Zoe , would you like some soup?
Zoe: No, I'm too happy to eat soup.

The Capitol Building

Zoe and I visited the Capitol Building here in Austin the other day. Zoe likes all the statues inside. On the way out we collected acorns in the grass for a while.
